We have just received news about Vintage Jukebox, a celebration of the spirit of the Roaring Twenties, the era of the speakeasy, flappers, prohibition and jazz music, opening at Theatre on the Bay on 14 June 2023. Count us in!

The dynamic new dance production, presented by the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (Lamta), will feature a large cast of performers from the performing arts academy. It will showcase choreography by some of South Africa’s top names, such as Adele Blank, Michelle Reid, Sean Bovim, Jared Schaedler, Liam Gillespie, Shameelah Kinnear, Brigitte Reeve-Taylor, Robin van Wyk, Ashley Searle and Lamta co-director Duane Alexander.
We are told to expect a high-octane, nostalgic, retro-journey through the music and culture of the 1920’s, with a 21st Century twist.

“From reimagined contemporary tunes to jazzy ballads and bluesy vocals, the show offers something for everyone.”
According to Director Anton Luitingh, Vintage Jukebox will appeal to fans of 1920’s culture and to newcomers of the genre.
“We’ve worked hard to create a production that captures both the spirit and energy of the era, while also bringing our own fresh and innovative approach to the choreography and staging.”
Vintage Jukebox runs from 14 to 24 June 2023 at Theatre on The Bay in Camps Bay. Evening performances at 8pm with two performances on Saturdays at 4pm and 8pm. Tickets R250 and R150 for student groups of 10 or more, via Webtickets. To make a group booking email [email protected]
